Monterey Car Week transforms California’s coastline into a playground for automotive enthusiasts, collectors, and designers every August. This year, Eccentrica, an Italian restomod specialist, took center stage with its latest creation, the Diablo Roadster. The brand, founded by entrepreneur Emanuel Colombini, has built a reputation for reviving iconic supercars with modern upgrades while preserving their original charm.

## The Eccentrica Diablo: A Modern Classic

The Diablo Roadster retains the original 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine but reimagines nearly every other aspect. Key upgrades include:

| Feature | Upgrade | |------------------------|----------------------------------| | Chassis | Reinforced | | Suspension | Active double wishbones | | Body | Composite materials | | Braking | Modern Brembo technology | | Exhaust | Capristo system | | Steering | Power-assisted | | Traction Control | Integrated |

These enhancements ensure the car remains a thrilling, analogue driving experience while meeting contemporary performance standards.

## A Week of High-End Events

Eccentrica’s Monterey program kicked off at Villa Eccentrica in Pebble Beach, where collectors from the Supercar Owners Circle gathered for an Italian aperitivo. The Roadster was later unveiled to press and clients in private showings before making its public debut at The Quail, a prestigious collector car event.

The brand also hosted an Italian-themed gathering focused on the restomod movement, featuring names like Totem and Nardone. The evening included DJ sets, champagne, and rare cars, blending Italian nightlife with automotive culture.

The Roadster’s true test came the following day, as press and potential buyers took it for drives through Monterey’s scenic landscapes. The experience highlighted the car’s raw power and mechanical feedback, reinforcing Eccentrica’s philosophy of keeping driving engaging and visceral.

The week concluded with the Roadster’s appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and a DJ set at Carmel Coffee, showcasing how Monterey Car Week has evolved to include fashion, music, and social culture alongside automobiles.

## A Contrast to Modern Trends

While much of the automotive industry shifts toward electrification and automation, Eccentrica is doubling down on traditional driving experiences. The brand’s limited-production, highly customizable cars feel more like collectible design objects than conventional performance vehicles. By prioritizing naturally aspirated engines, manual transmissions, and physical feedback, Eccentrica offers a counterpoint to the industry’s push for automation.

By the end of Monterey Car Week, Eccentrica had successfully positioned itself as a leader in the restomod scene, proving that loud, unapologetic driving experiences still have a place in the modern automotive world.
