Moncler Re/Icons 2026 Expands to Full Ready-to-Wear
Moncler's Re/Icons 2026 collection reworks four archive jackets-Karakorum, Verone, Himalaya, and Tibb-into a full ready-to-wear line with modern materials.
The Moncler Re/Icons 2026 collection reworks four heritage pieces, Karakorum, Verone, Himalaya, and Tibb, with modern materials and design updates. This marks the line's first expansion beyond outerwear into a complete ready-to-wear offering. The global launch is set for October 15, tying the brand's pioneering alpine legacy to current menswear trends in heritage and technical innovation.
Each iconic piece receives a contemporary reinterpretation. The Karakorum jacket, originally crafted in 1954 for the Italian K2 expedition, is now made from glossy 10-denier micro ripstop. It features a double snap-button front, a removable hood, and a large chest pocket with the new Re/Icons logo. The Verone jacket, a signature of 1980s Milanese youth culture, is rendered in lightweight matte micro cotton with a zip closure and buttoned storm placket. The relaxed-fit Himalaya jacket uses a soft matte cotton-nylon blend and keeps its drawstring hood and logo-patch sleeve pocket. The Tibb vest, an 1980s staple, becomes an oversized, reversible gilet in recycled matte Longue Saison or wool gabardine.
The collection is available in a range of colors for men and women.
Beyond the core jackets, Re/Icons 2026 includes windbreakers, T-shirts, pants, skirts, beanies, balaclavas, silk-twill foulards, and titanium-and-leather sunglasses based on vintage climbing goggles.
Design and material evolution
Each piece features updated fabrics, tonal camaïeu coloring, and heritage details like Vittorio Sella’s K2 label and alpine pin-inspired logos. The sophisticated camaïeu technique layers several shades from the same color family for a nuanced, tonal finish. Inside each jacket, a label reproduces Vittorio Sella’s legendary photograph of K2, captured in June 1909. Outside, metal logos fixed to the pockets borrow their aesthetic from souvenir pins once collected in alpine towns.
This evolution is clear in the material shifts. The original Karakorum was raw cotton filled with down. The 2026 version uses a high-tech, glossy 10-denier micro ripstop. The update bridges decades of innovation.
Cultural and cinematic ties
The collection connects to Moncler’s alpine legacy through the Alpine Diary book and the Bianco film, which recreates the Karakorum worn by Walter Bonatti. Alpine Diary is written as the journal of an invented 1950s explorer. It pairs handwritten entries and black-and-white images of historic climbs with color photography of the new collection.
The pioneers that have shaped Moncler’s heritage enter the world of cinema in 'Bianco', the brand’s first feature film collaboration. Directed by Daniele Vicari, it stars Alessandro Borghi as legendary climber Walter Bonatti. Bonatti wore the Karakorum jacket during his tragic 1961 climb of the Central Pillar of Frêney on Mont Blanc. The cast of explorers in the film wears the recreated jacket. Bianco arrives in theaters in January 2027.
