KOZABURO unveiled its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, titled 'Beat,' during New York Fashion Week. The presentation marks the brand's 10-year anniversary and is inspired by mid-century blues, memories of the Ganges River, and the concept of garments that evolve over time.
Designer Kozaburo Akasaka draws directly from his personal archive. The collection's centerpiece is a cosmic bandana print, sourced from a rare, uncut Indian-made sheet from the 1950s. This print animates airy Camp Collar shirts, Koikuchi tops, and unisex Skirt Pants designed for summer ease.
Nostalgia for American workwear and athletic gear is thoughtfully reworked. The lineup includes 1940s-style terrycloth fleece and details like 'afterhood' sweatshirts with separately applied hoods. Cardigans feature split 'boxer' pockets, often paired with flowy Jax sweatshorts.
Denim Aged for a Decade
Denim, a foundational element for the brand, undergoes a dramatic transformation. For SS27, KOZABURO introduces denim that has been heavily washed to mimic a full decade of wear. This process softens rigid indigo and charcoal fabrics into sun-faded baby blues and muted grays.
Archival workwear makes a bold return with the debut of the Rockaway Jacket. This boxy piece is an homage to 1960s utility gear and features period-accurate small o-ring zippers. It is complemented by the relaxed cut of the new Short Dexter Pants.

The collection presents an ambitious reinterpretation of suiting that discards stiff formality. KOZABURO use a crisp, drapable linen-cotton blend dyed in sumi black and indigo. The resulting suits are engineered to reveal subtle pinstripes only after continuous wear.
Modified Sack Jackets and tailored Track Jackets challenge traditional proportions. They are balanced with fluid bottoms like the tapered Balloon Pant and the sweeping, androgynous Skirt Pants.
