GU's Pokémon Capsule Blends Outdoor Gear with Subtle
GU's new six-piece Pokémon collection, themed around a trainer in the forest, uses earthy tones and outdoor hardware.
GU is launching a new six-piece Pokémon collection on October 23. The unisex capsule is themed around the idea of a trainer living deep in the forest with their Pokémon.
The collection translates this concept through a palette of natural, earthy colors and functional details inspired by outdoor gear. Instead of bold graphics, character references are often incorporated into small design flourishes like woven labels, embroidery, and specialized hardware.
Hardware and Fleece Details
Several zippered styles feature zipper pulls finished with a Poké Ball motif. The Half-Zip Fleece Pullover, made from fully recycled polyester, carries its character reference on a woven tag. It comes in two color options, each linked to a specific Pokémon.
The Fleece Full-Zip Parka is also constructed from recycled polyester. Available in Black and Green, it pairs a Poké Ball zipper pull with a Pikachu silhouette on an outdoor-style woven label.
Knitwear and Graphics
The Full-Zip Knit Jacket is described as the heaviest and most substantial layer in the capsule due to its acrylic knit construction. It features more elaborate character integrations across its two colorways.
Both versions of the knit jacket are finished with the Poké Ball zipper pull. Softer items in the range use graphics and embroidery for their Pokémon themes. The Sweat Pullover comes in Light Gray, printed with the silhouettes of Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle, and in Black, centered on a Pikachu silhouette.
Lounge Wear and Final Touches
The cotton Graphic T-shirt is offered in White, fronted by Dragonite, and in Blue, which gathers a group of Flying-type Pokémon. Completing the collection is a Sweat Lounge Set, consisting of a long-sleeve top and long pants.
The lounge set forgoes loud branding for small, one-point embroidery. It comes in three color options, each associated with a different Pokémon. A functional outdoor detail is found at the waist, where the drawstring is made from paracord instead of a standard spindle.
The entire Pokémon x GU collection will be available for purchase starting October 23 through GU's channels.
