The watch replaces the traditional burgundy dial with gold, a color deeply tied to fortune, prosperity, and prestige in Chinese culture. The three-goat motif on the rotor is a traditional symbol linked to luck, harmony, and promising new beginnings. This symbol draws inspiration from the I Ching, where it represents positive energy and the start of a new cycle. In Chinese tradition, the goat itself is associated with kindness, elegance, and compassion. IWC stated the watch combines Swiss watchmaking tradition with Chinese lunar calendar symbolism. The design balances the technical character of the Pilot’s Watch collection with warmth through the contrast of gold and black.

Beyond its aesthetic, the timepiece includes a subtle hidden detail. On the 8th of each month, the date display shows the Chinese character for 'goat' instead of the numeral 8. This intricate feature is powered by IWC’s in-house manufacture calibre 69385 automatic movement. The movement includes a chronograph with a column wheel mechanism and provides day-of-week and date indications. Its vertical counter layout positions the minute counter at 12 o'clock.
