Occasions: Nike, Nigo, and BTS member J-Hope have collaborated on a new Air Force 1 sneaker

Nike, Japanese artist Nigo, and BTS superstar J-Hope have unveiled a new collaborative sneaker. The J-Hope x Nigo x Nike Air Force 1 ’01, dubbed 'Burnt Sunrise', will launch exclusively on October 17 at Human Made before a global release on October 22 via Nike, SNKRS, and select retailers. This partnership fuses music, fashion, and heritage sneaker design, with Nigo calling J-Hope a true cultural ambassador who can help carry style forward.

J-Hope's connection to the shoe is deeply personal. He revealed that white Air Force 1s were the first sneakers he wore for dancing, using them until they were creased. Creating his own version brought back memories of those early days. The collaboration is rooted in what the partners describe as rarified taste, artistry, and design, and is expected to inspire a new generation of artists globally.

Design details of the sneaker

The sneaker's design is defined by a glossy, shiny brown leather and metallic gold upper, officially named 'Burnt Sunrise'. This is contrasted with 'Chlorine Blue' accents throughout. The laces are not standard; they are braided, multicolor ropes that pick up on the shoe's overall color scheme and feature a printed design, making them slightly thicker than normal.

Signature squirrel graphics appear on the insole, representing J-Hope's energetic spirit, while an embroidered squirrel decorates the heel. Co-branding with both Nigo and J-Hope's names is found on the heel and tongue tag. The sneaker sits on a cream-colored midsole with Nike Air cushioning and a brown outsole. It comes packaged in a special custom shoebox that mixes the sneaker’s colorway with the collaborators' names in bold print above the Nike Swoosh.

The model is based on the 2001 version of the Air Force 1, which features a narrower toe, a more simplified profile, and a sportier fit compared to later iterations.

Context within Nigo’s Air Force 1 World Tour

This release is a key installment in Nigo's ongoing 'Air Force 1 World Tour'. The tour marks the beginning of a multi-season journey for the designer with the iconic silhouette. Nike designers reprised the 2001 Air Force 1 specifically for this project.

The tour debuted earlier this year with an exclusive style created in collaboration with Jun Takahashi of Undercover. That shoe was inspired by Nigo and Takahashi’s magazine column LO2 from the early 1990s.

Release information and availability

The launch follows a two-phase schedule. The first, exclusive release happens on October 17 at Human Made. A broader global launch then follows on October 22, when the sneakers will be available through Nike's SNKRS app and at select retail outlets worldwide.
